Curated by Ludovico Pratesi and Paola Ugolini, the exhibition focuses on the delicate matter of family relationships, a recurring theme in this artist’s research for many years. Schivardi’s project suggests reflections on the nature of the family in today’s society, through a comparison of family nuclei of different ethnic, social and religious backgrounds. The artist has activated a creative and relational process with each of these nuclei, to find a way of penetrating not only the family but also its worldview and its way of life. This inclusion in an “other world, elsewhere” is captured in photographs. Alice, dressed and groomed in keeping with the cultural and social codes of the host family, transforms herself into an emerging social subjectivity, balanced between the “other,” the family, and her own “ego”.
