Msheireb, Atrium Z

May 15th – September 14th, 2024

Saturday-Thursday 9:00 am – 7:00 pm; Friday 3.00 pm – 7.00 pm.

The Embassy of Italy to the State of Qatar and Msheireb Properties are pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition “CONNECT-IT. Visions to connect the world”, produced by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with ANCE, the Italian national association of construction companies. The exhibition’s worldwide premiere was held in Doha on May 14th, 2024 in the presence of His Excellency Valentino Valentini, Italy’s Deputy Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Msheireb Properties CEO Eng. Ali Al Kuwari and Ambassador Paolo Toschi, in addition to the scientific and artistic curators.

Curated by Professor Tullia Iori, Ludovico Pratesi and Marco Bassan, “CONNECT-IT” narrates Italian excellence in the field of engineering through masterpieces built both on the Italian territory and abroad. The exhibition is conceived as an interactive adventure, where each stage suggests a sensory immersion, capable of taking the visitor to the heart of the great Italian works. Texts, pictures, music and videos from renowned artists such as Emanuele Trevi, Luca Campigotto, Gabriele Gianni and Michelangelo Lupone enrich the experience by re-interpreting the infrastructures in an original and evocative manner.

Such narrative illustrates the evolution of an industrial sector which is a source of pride for Italy, but also a means to underline the contribution made by Italian infrastructural excellence abroad, including Qatar with the majestic projects of the Doha’s metro system and the two FIFA 2022 World Cup Stadiums Al Bayt and Al Janoub.

“I'm delighted to open the first-ever CONNECT-IT here in Qatar, a key economic partner for Italy", said Deputy Minister Valentini. "Italy's infrastructure sector stands out for its combination of advanced technology, practicality, and stunning architecture. This exhibition gives the people of Doha a chance to experience some of Italy's most impressive infrastructure projects, as well as other remarkable works from around the world, showcasing the power of connecting people through unique and innovative designs," he added.

Msheireb Properties CEO Eng. Ali Al Kuwari said “Msheireb Properties has a positive, long-standing relationship with our Italian colleagues in Qatar spanning more than five years. Together, we presented a rich offering of exhibitions and programmes to the creative community in Qatar and those visiting us from abroad. We are excited to host CONNECT-IT in our district, which in itself is a testament to craftsmanship and design excellence.”

“It was not a case that Doha was chosen as the first location worldwide to host CONNECT-IT” said Ambassador Toschi. “We know how intertwined are our economies and how valuable is contribution of Italian companies to Qatar’s infrastructural development, especially in landmark projects such as Doha’s metro or the World Cup stadiums. Today, we not only celebrate the excellence of the Italian infrastructure industry, but also the strength and the success of the friendship between Italy and Qatar” he concluded.

CONNECT-IT will be open to the general public free of charge from Wednesday, May 15th to Saturday, September 14th, 2024 in Msheireb Downtown District, Atrium Z (access from Al Nakheel Street and Wadi Msheireb Street, close to the “Msheireb” Metro station exit).
